The PR boutique Frau Wenk is the first German PR agency that has been certified as “women’s business enterprise” by WEConnect International. Frau Wenk thereby underlines its pioneering role in the DACH region. On today’s International Womens’ Day, Frau Wenk joins an exclusive network of over 700 women owned companies certified by WEConnect International around the world.
Multinational corporations like IBM, Intel and MSD have understood that innovation is not only fuelled by diversity within their company but also within their supply chain. That is why the concept of supplier diversity already has a high standing internationally. In Germany, however, this idea has yet to gain momentum.
“As a women-owned company with a high proportion of female staff, it is obvious for us to support diversity on all levels. For us that doesn’t stop with a quota of women in the company workforce but it affects all parts of the value chain”, explains Andrea Buzzi, Managing Director of the Agency Frau Wenk. “A large proportion of our clients are based in the UK or USA, where the percentage of women owners is an important factor when choosing suppliers and partners. A focus that is often even highlighted in the annual company reports. This is one reason, why the completion of the comprehensive certification procedure works as a USP for us, when we are pitching with other PR agencies for international business.”
To support supplier diversity in Germany, the association of German business women Verband deutscher Unternehmerinnen (VdU) has been the local representative of WEConnect International since May 2017 and they manage the certification process in Germany. The official seal from WEConnect International serves as a guarantee for buyers that they are acquiring products and services from a majority women-owned company. German women-owned companies which have already been certified include management consultancy firms, event agencies, market research companies, translations experts, catering firms and personnel consultancies.
The agency Frau Wenk has recently promoted Susanne Hohenschuh as second Managing Director next to founder Andrea Buzzi. The women-owned agency specialises in PR and marketing for technology companies and platforms in the German speaking region. More than 20 companies with a digital DNA are currently working with Frau Wenk. Apart from ad tech firms like AppNexus, Teads, GroundTruth and Marin Software, an increasing number of companies that aim for an intensive cross-channel connection of PR and marketing chose Frau Wenk. Amongst them are the online supermarket myEnso and the insure-tech company CommunityLife. Frau Wenk recently underlined its affinity for technology as the first German PR agency accepting Bitcoins for payments. The team of 12 people also publishes the lifestyle magazine CLUTCH, which covers the digital future and has been nominated for the German PR Award by the DPRG (German Public Relations Association).
Maggie Berry, Executive Director for Europe at WEConnect International comments: “We’re delighted to have another women-owned business certified in Germany and welcome Frau Wenk and their team to the network. Supplier diversity is a new but growing part of the diversity landscape in the DACH region and we’re keen for more women-owned businesses to know about the organisation for more multi-national corporations in Germany to join firms like IBM, Intel and MSD in supporting the engagement of more women-owned businesses into their supply chain.”
